Working towards Artsmark – Round 12

In order to support the development of Artsmark as an auditing and development tool as well as a school kitemark we have decided to introduce the term ‘Working towards Artsmark’ to replace not achieving.

This status will apply to application forms received where the assessor has serious concerns that there is too much additional evidence required to meet criteria, where the school is under the national benchmark for arts provision, or where a school did not submit their Artsmark applications but has taken up the opportunity for a development visit.

In the case of a school not meeting criteria, the assessor will contact the Artsmark team, the team will read through the application and agree the approach. If it is agreed that the application form is not meeting criteria and is highly unlikely to, even with additional evidence, it will be recommended for ‘Working towards Artsmark’.

Working towards Artsmark will involve a support visit rather than an assessment visit to develop a successful application for next year, allowing the school to begin their ‘Artsmark journey’.

For Round 12 this will also include a chance to reapply in Round 13 free of any registration or application fees that may be introduce.
