Artswork, the Bridge organisation for the South East, have developed a suite of resources to help teachers deliver creative workshops.

Artswork have collaborated with three South East arts and cultural organisations to produce a suite of resource booklets and video tutorials, focused on practical ways to lead arts activities in the classroom. Focused on three different activities – creating a vegetable orchestra, lyric/song-writing and spoken word performance – each resource contains background information, lesson plans and information on how to adapt activities for different settings. The resources can also be used to support a setting on their Artsmark journey, demonstrating how to plan and arts activity, and evaluate and evidence its impact. and how these can be part of your settings Artsmark journey.

Creating a vegetable orchestra

Created with SoCo Music Project, the first resource focuses on how to create an orchestra in your classroom – using vegetables! The resource, and accompanying set of video tutorials, provides a guide to creating carrot whistles, pepper shakers and courgette castanets, as well as providing information on interesting world instruments made from organic matter just like the soothing sound of bamboo panpipes.
