Platinum Jubilee: How Artsmark schools are celebrating

This year, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.

To celebrate this unprecedented anniversary, Artsmark schools all across the country have been marking the Jubilee by unleashing their creativity and making work fit for Buckingham Palace itself.

Platinum Jubilee: How our schools celebrated

A variety of different hand-sown creations to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. They're made using felt and include Union Jacks, crowns and the number 70.

Young people from Morpeth Chantry in Northumberland were busy creating a variety of different Jubilee themed art pieces, which were all hung together in Morpeth’s Sanderson Arcade. 

Two hand-drawn pieces of art, inspired by the punk movement. One is a union jack and the other is a large scale letter addressed to the Queen.

Year 9 at Thornleigh Salesian College in Bolton were busy creating Punk-inspired Jubilee art boards, which will proudly be displayed in their local community alongside those from neighbouring schools. Rock on!

Sherwood Primary School in Mitcham, London held a Jubilee art competition last week, here are some of the winning entries.

Fit for a royal celebration! Years 5 & 6 pupils at King St. Alban’s in Worcester got creative by making coronation crowns and monochrome portraits of The Queen.

Adderley Primary School in Birmingham have been celebrating the #PlatinumJubilee in so many ways! They even received letters from Buckingham Palace  - wow!

Two images. The first, is a young girl holding up her hand-decorated plate to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee, stood next to a carboard cut-out of the Queen. The second, three pupils smile whilst holding up their collages of the Queen's silhouette.

How cool is this artwork from students at Hollyfield Primary school in Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands? They’ve made collages, bunting and even royal plates!

Dance leaders and Miss Edwards from Sparken Hill Academy in Worksop organised a giant whole-school Platinum Jubilee dance in their playground.
